2017-18 is DJ's seventh season as the Radio Broadcaster for the Nailers, after taking over for his good friend, Alex Reed, during the summer of 2011. Prior to coming to Wheeling, DJ spent two seasons with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Lewiston MAINEiacs, working first under Alex, before taking the reins when Reed joined the Nailers.

Abisalih, 30, was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, but has lived in Scarborough, Maine for most of his life, and is a diehard supporter of the four major sports teams from New England. After graduating from Scarborough High School, DJ attended the New England School of Communications, where he earned an Associate Degree in Sports Broadcasting. From there, he co-hosted a radio show in Portland, Maine, while also working for the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) for nine seasons.

Along with calling the games, DJ handles Media and Community Relations.

In January of 2015, DJ broadcast the ECHL All-Star Classic in Orlando, Florida, and in June of 2016, he was named ECHL Media Relations Director of the Year for the 2015-16 season.
