WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Wheeling has traded forward Darryl Lloyd to the Wichita Thunder in exchange for future considerations.
Lloyd, 33, battled an injury for a good portion of the 2016-17 campaign with the Nailers, which limited him to appearing in 13 of the club's first 52 games. During his time in the lineup, Darryl contributed four goals, two assists, six points, and 16 penalty minutes, finding the scoresheet in each of his first three tilts and five of the first six. The Pickering, Ontario native returned to North America this season, following five years with the EIHL's Belfast Giants. Prior to that, Lloyd played in the ECHL with the Victoria Salmon Kings and Kalamazoo Wings. He has laced up the skates in 471 regular season games on this side of the pond, accumulating 106 goals, 160 assists, 266 points, and 1,073 penalty minutes.
The Wheeling Nailers and Toledo Walleye will clash again at Huntington Center on Saturday at 7:30, as Wheeling continues its seven-game road trip. The next homestand at WesBanco Arena will take place on March 10th, 11th, and 12th. The 10th is a Flat Screen Friday and Frosty Friday at 7:35 against Quad City. The Mallards are the opponent on the 11th at 7:05, which is Duck Dynasty Night, starring John Godwin and Justin Martin. Finally, the weekend wraps up on the 12th, which is Youth Hockey Day at 5:05 against Toledo.
