Nailers Announce 2017-18 Promotional Schedule

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are thrilled to announce their 2017-18 promotional schedule. This season's promotional schedule features new and exciting theme nights, giveaways, and the return of popular events from previous years.

The home season begins on October 21st, when the Nailers battle their closest geographic rival, the Cincinnati Cyclones, with face-off scheduled for 7:05. However, the game won't be the lone attraction that day. After a long summer, fans will be hungry to get back to their home away from home, so the party will start early, with an Opening Night Fan Fest. As has been the case in previous seasons, the entire team will be introduced twice - once during the fan fest, and once when it takes the ice in preparation for the game, which is aiming to be the third straight home opening sellout.

In November, a new promotion gets introduced to Wheeling, as Marvel Night takes place on November 10th. Fans will have the chance to meet characters, and the first 1,000 kids at the game will receive a free superhero cape. Speaking of kids, November 14th will be the first of two Education Day games, when the puck drops at 10:45 a.m. After a one-year hiatus, Thanksgiving Eve returns to the home schedule, and with it comes a fun new twist - Animal House Night with a Glass Beer Stein Giveaway to the first 1,500 adults in attendance. Teddy Bear Toss closes out the month on November 25th, when fans throw a new or gently used teddy bear onto the ice after the Nailers score their first goal, with the bears getting donated to kids around the Ohio Valley.

The force of promotions is strong to begin December, as Star Wars Night gets things started on the 2nd. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free light saber, while all fans will get the opportunity to meet characters. The following day, Spike is inviting all of his four-legged friends to the game for Pups & Pucks. As the holiday season draws near, the Nailers will help get you ready, with an Ugly Sweater Party on December 22nd. Youth hockey players will get to show off their hockey sweaters (jerseys) on December 30th, before a party closes out 2017 on New Year's Eve with a special 6:05 game time.

The 2018 calendar year begins with Faith & Family Day on January 7th. On January 13th, a brand new promotion will make its debut at WesBanco Arena - Bricks & Kids Night, featuring an OYO Sports Figurine Giveaway to the first 2,500 fans through the doors. That will also be the annual Scout Night, which sold out last season, so arriving early is important for those wanting a figurine. Kids will love the January schedule, as another promotion is geared toward them at the end of the month. Princesses & Pirates Night returns on January 27th.

We're dialing back the clock and busting out some of our best dance moves to start off February, as Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air") will be the star of 90's Night on February 2nd. If that doesn't cure your cold winter blues, perhaps a Beach Party will on February 3rd. Later that month, Olympics Night takes place on February 16th, followed by Ladies Night on February 17th.

The second Education Day game gets the puck rolling on March 7th. Both Education Day games will feature Thunderstick Giveaways for everyone at the rink. On March 10th, we salute our two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion affiliate, the Pittsburgh Penguins. This year's Pittsburgh Penguins Night will also feature a Bobblehead Giveaway, with details coming soon. March is filled with giveaways, as can koozies will be distributed to the first 2,500 fans on Construction Trades Night on the 23rd, there will be a Mystery Bobblehead Exchange on the 24th, which is Charity Night, and the first 2,500 fans will receive a team trading card set as part of Fan Appreciation Night on the 31st, which also includes a full team post game autograph session.

All Friday home games will once again be Frosty Fridays, in which $1 beers will be available for all fans 21 years of age and older. With the exception of New Year's Eve, all Sunday home contests will be followed by a post game skate with the team. Additionally, all Wednesday home tilts will be WesBanco Winning Wednesdays.
