WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced two transactions, which both take effect immediately. Wheeling has signed forwards Bryan Arneson and Ryan Marcuz.
Arneson, 24, was a member of the opening roster for the 2017-18 Nailers, becoming the first attendee of the team's tryout camp to be named to the roster. An injury prevented him from making his ECHL debut at the start of the year, but he is expected to be in the lineup during the weekend. Bryan has been playing for the SPHL's Mississippi RiverKings, collecting ten goals, seven assists, and 17 points in 24 games. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native recorded at least one point in six of his last seven games with the RiverKings. Prior to turning pro, Arneson attended Grant MacEwan University for three years, suiting up for the Griffins. Bryan also spent three seasons playing junior hockey in the AJHL.
Marcuz, 28, attended training camp with the Nailers, and is looking forward to playing his first career regular season game in the ECHL. Ryan also comes to Wheeling from the Mississippi RiverKings, after producing 11 goals, 20 assists, and 31 points in 39 games. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native has spent parts of each of the last five seasons in Mississippi, with last year being his best one, as he finished second on the RiverKings with 26 goals and 45 points in 56 games. Marcuz has appeared in 187 career games in the SPHL, amassing 59 goals, 70 assists, and 129 points. Prior to beginning his professional career, Ryan attended SUNY-Morrisville for four years.
