Kevin Schulze Returns from the AHL

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Defenseman Kevin Schulze has returned to the Nailers from his loan to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Schulze, 24, saw AHL action for the second consecutive season, appearing in 11 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton over the course of the last month. Despite being held off of the scoresheet, the Penguins posted a winning record with Kevin in the lineup, going 6-4-1. The White Bear Lake, Minnesota native is Wheeling's leading defensive scorer for the second year in a row, having collected eight goals, 20 assists, and 28 points in 40 games to this point. Last season, Schulze was named to the All-ECHL Second Team and ECHL All-Rookie Team, as he became the third defenseman in team history to score 60 points in a season, doing so with 13 goals and 47 assists. Kevin had at least one point in five of his last seven games prior to his loan to the AHL, including a two-goal game in Orlando on February 12th.

The Nailers will continue their homestand on Friday night, when they welcome the Brampton Beast to town for a 7:05 face-off. NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Garrett Smithley and his "Number Nuthin" car will be at the game, the first 2,500 fans will receive a can koozie, and it will also be a Frosty Friday. Fan Appreciation Night will feature a diamond ring giveaway for one lucky fan, a team trading card set for the first 2,500 fans, a full team post game autograph session, and various prizes throughout the game.
