Nailers Come Back to Earn Point Against Greenville

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers earned three of four points from their weekend set against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at WesBanco Arena. On Saturday night, Troy Josephs and Nick Saracino helped Wheeling erase a 2-0 deficit, but Austen Brassard's goal at 1:19 of overtime put the Swamp Rabbits into the win column with a 3-2 decision.

The Nailers got off to a bit of a slow start, as Greenville opened up with a pair of goals, before the home side pulled within one. The first tally for the Swamp Rabbits came on the power play, as Jake Bolton drilled in a slap shot from the top of the right circle for his fourth strike in three games. 4:20 later, another blueliner added to the advantage, as Trevor Owens jumped up to smack in a one-time feed from Kevin Miller. Wheeling's marker came with 2:38 remaining. Nick Saracino touched the puck ahead to Michael Phillips, who led a 2-on-1 break with Troy Josephs. Phillips put the pass on Josephs' tape, and Troy proceeded to bury a shot from the left side.

With 8:06 to go in the middle frame, the Nailers drew even, cashing in on a power play. Michael Phillips won a neutral zone draw to Dan Fick, who led Nick Saracino in on the left side of the offensive zone. Saracino faked his way through the defense, then dribbled the puck through Garrett Bartus' legs for the goal.

Neither side found the twine in the third period, as both squads earned a point with the contest progressing to overtime. In the extra session, the Swamp Rabbits prevailed on the lone shot. Sean Flanagan stole the puck and set up Austen Brassard, who smoked in a shot from the left circle for the 3-2 Greenville win.

Garrett Bartus made 27 saves on 29 shots in the victory for the Swamp Rabbits, while Matt O'Connor turned away 18 of the 21 shots he faced for Wheeling.

The Nailers will close out their homestand on Tuesday morning with the first of their two Education Day games, as they play host to the Toledo Walleye at 10:45 a.m. Coming up later in the month on November 21st is Marvel Super Hero Night. Then, on December 15th, Mick Foley will be the special guest for NailerMania. The Wheeling Nailers, considered one of the top things to do in Wheeling, West Virginia, provide affordable family entertainment for fans throughout the Ohio Valley.
