WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins have announced two transactions, which both take effect immediately. Wheeling has received forwards Brandon Hawkins and Ryan Scarfo from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Hawkins, 25, had an excellent start to the season with the Nailers, as he amassed two goals, two assists, and four points in four games. That earned him his call to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he dished out one assist in three games, giving him three points in eight career AHL contests. This is Brandon's first full season of professional hockey, as he played two years each at Bowling Green State University and Northeastern University.
Scarfo, 25, played in Wheeling's season opener against Cincinnati, before being recalled by the AHL Penguins. He appeared in two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting a +1 rating. This is Ryan's second season in the Penguins organization, after notching seven points in 25 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a rookie in 2018-19.
The Nailers will look to build off a successful homestand, when they visit the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday at 7:05. Wheeling's next home game is Military Appreciation Night on November 8th, when Joe Everson sings and paints the Star Spangled Banner in a one-of-a-kind performance.
