WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have loaned forward Troy Josephs to Wheeling.
Josephs, 24, is playing his second full season of professional hockey, after spending the majority of his rookie campaign with the Nailers. Troy had a strong first year offensively, amassing 16 goals, 20 assists, and 36 points in 43 games with Wheeling. His highlight game of last season took place on February 2nd, when he netted his first career hat trick in a 7-3 home win against the Indy Fuel. The Whitby, Ontario native has appeared in 18 games at the AHL level with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, including one this season, in which he dished out an assist. Josephs was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Troy Josephs and the Wheeling Nailers will travel to Reading for a two-game series with the Royals this weekend on Saturday at 7:00 and Sunday at 4:00. Wheeling will then play its first home game on November 3rd against the Indy Fuel, featuring a pregame concert by Logan Wojcik, the induction of the Wheeling Hockey Hall of Fame's Class of 2018, and the debut of the team's new alternate jersey.
