With the whirlwind of excitement surrounding the announcement of our new coach, Mark Dennehy, the Nailers were able to sit down with Mark’s wife, Heather, to learn more about the family of five.
Heather Dennehy has her teaching degree, is a board-certified analyst, and worked as a behaviorist for years. Three years ago, she returned to teaching, conveniently, in the same elementary school as her youngest daughter. The Dennehy’s are proud parents to three daughters; Kelsey, Kielan, and Caroline who are 14, 13, and 10 respectively. Their daughters all play hockey and participate in other activities including soccer, theatre, and singing in Eastern Massachusetts where they have been raised. The proud parents encourage kind behavior and foster integrity within their daughters. Heather stated that her husband, “is as good as they come, and it travels down to the girls.”
But the Dennehy’s are just like every typical family with teenagers, enjoying downtime as a family at the beach, movies, dinner, and sporting events. In fact, the family loves to go to Cape Cod every summer. Most recently, the family visited Breckenridge, Colorado for the first time, where the girls skied. With such an active family, Heather thinks that it is very important to cherish small moments with her family. She said that often the best conversations with her daughters happen in the car. And with another car ride in their future, the family is excited to learn more about Wheeling. Their daughters have never travelled this way and are eager to learn more about West Virginia and all that the area offers. The Dennehy’s are extremely family-oriented, Heather thinks that “Mark will be a great fit, because he loves to create a family environment with every organization and will embrace the opportunity to continue this tradition with the Nailers.”
On behalf of the Wheeling Nailers, we would like to welcome the Dennehy’s to Wheeling.
